  • Do Good Volunteer

    In 2012, The Star newspaper launched ‘Do Good. Volunteer’ (DGV), a social initiative to champion volunteerism as a key component in nation-building. The DGV initiative revolved around an online portal that paired volunteers with help-needing NGOs. The initiative was recognised regionally, winning Bronze at the WAN-IFRA Asian Media Awards 2013 for the Best in Community Service category. One year after its launch, and with 2013 being International Volunteer Year, the challenge was to make DGV bigger and better.

  • Suria FM

    Suria FM is a Malay-language radio station playing music from the 90s with a mix of contemporary songs. According to Nielsen*, it is ranked fourth among other Malay-language stations. A competitive check revealed that all the other Malay-language stations positioned their stations around the product – the genre of music and also their brand’s personalities, their star DJs. Not only that, our competition has also moved beyond the black box and music is more easily available and customizable to listeners needs.

    The print media crisis is real. And it is under constant attack from the Internet, and mobile phone platforms. At the same time, online news are mostly available for free, leading to drastic decline in newspaper sales, especially in the West. Whilst this phenomenon has yet to truly hit our shores, we cannot assume this will always be the case. In Malaysia, with 25.3 million internet users or 89% of the population connected online and the Gen Y population making up 46% of the nation – that’s 11.4 million millennials that has grown up with technology.

  • Palliative Care Awareness Campaign

    Every year, over 35 million people die from some form of chronic life-limiting illness. However, not many people (including policy makers) are aware of palliative care – what it does and how it benefits society.

    Talking about death is taboo amongst Asians and this makes talking about palliative care or end of life care seem very remote.

  • R.AGE Against Bullying.
     

    This startling fact was uncovered by R.AGE, a local youth paper and portal. They also discovered that many Malaysians think that bullying is a normal part of growing up, and nobody says anything. Like many forms of abuse, bullying is under-reported because victims are afraid to come forward for fear of repercussions and shame. What many don’t realise is that silence only perpetuates the cycle of violence.

    What better way to bring Malaysians together than to allow them to interact and discover things about each other? The DiGi WWWOW "Internet for All" Awards did just that. They gave Malaysians a platform to promote their online content and it could be voted for by their friends or just about anybody who visited the site. Totally about the people, for the people and by the people.

  • Wyeth : Formula for Success

    With the aim to put Wyeth in the fore-front of every mother's mind as the go-to brand for infant milk formula, we built a footstep program, called S-26 MAMA Club, to walk first time mothers through their journey beginning at pregnancy all the way up to the child's growth till 7 years of age. This partnership between Wyeth and Rapp has resulted in awards being won for this campaign's strategy.

    You can go a long way with good tires and we intended to put just that out to the masses. The festive season was the best time to do it too because of the amount of travelling that would be incurred by families and individuals alike. It worked tremendously well to our advantage because the tires had fuel saving and long-lasting features that proved to appeal highly to the customers.
